Find the Right
Color for Any Room with Luxe Home Interiors
 Dear Subscriber,
Have you finally
adjusted to the New Year? Have you stopped writing 2009 whenever you date
something? Well, maybe not that much. But possibly you've adjusted to
the point where you're ready to start doing something new. Perhaps
you're moving and you need to start planning the look of your new home,
or maybe some of the rooms in your house could use a little updating.
Either way, if you're planning your own extreme makeover this year,
then you'll want to prepare by learning what colors are in, in 2010.
The Pantone Color Institute, the authority on color directions
for home furnishings and other industries, has made its picks for which
colors are setting the trend this year. However, those decisions aren't
made as easily as it sounds. Leatrice Eisman, the executive director of the
Pantone Color Institute, says, "Design and color trends are not
conjured in a crystal ball - they are the result of much observation of the
surrounding natural world, as well as the influences that will impact the
world of the future." For this year, the Institute traveled far and
gained perspective and influence from many sources such as social issues,
the economy, play styles and life styles. Listed here is a look at four of
their more distinctive color groups for 2010, as well as their choice for
the Pantone color of the year:
High Definition
- A group that is both classic and modern. Timeless black, white, and gray
enhanced by Old Gold and other dramatic colors such as Malaga Wine, Paisley
Purple and Amaranth.
- Tinged Neutrals - An
acknowledgement of the recent economic downturn, this group appeals to
those that would feel more comfortable investing in "safe"
neutral colors. Pantones choices for this group include blue and green
tinged neutrals along with Champagne Beige, Silver Gray, and Classic
White.
- Gatherings - Inspired by the vast landscape
and rich various cultures of Africa, the Gatherings collection is pulled
from the creative boldness of the continent and boasts beautiful shades of
color such as Smoke Blue, Cypress Green, Lemon Curry, and Twilight Mauve
along with Sand, Oasis and Copper Coin.
- Ambiance -
A sophisticated palette of colors that is full of soft tones like Stonewash
Blue, Silver Pink, Stucco, and Desert Sage complimented by rich colors
Cognac and Coffee Bean.
- And the color of the year award
goes to - Turquoise! With the serene qualities of
blue combined with the invigorating aspects of green, Turquoise provides us
with a soothing, thought provoking escape from the world while also
replenishing our sense of well being. It matches well with every other
color in th
e spectrum
and appeals to both men and women. With Turquoise you can create a classic
maritime look, enhance your greens, complement your reds, add excitement to
your neutrals and browns, or create an evocative spa-like hue that will
bring warmth and excitement to most spaces.li>
